Is there a technique/filter I can apply so that dnsmasq will ONLY respond
to direct relay requests? (as opposed to local LAN broadcast requests?)

I'd like to test using dnsmasq in my environment, but don't want it to
conflict with another DHCP server running on the current LAN.

Cheers,

If you don't configure any dhcp-range for the subnets on the local LAN
then dnsmasq won't respond to requests from there. It will log a
warning, but that's unlikely to be a problem in your case.

So, just configure a dhcp-range for the subnet(s) that are being
relayed, and all should be fine.

Cheers,

Simon.
